Jan Bauer und Thomas Lüer
„Parasympathicus“
14/01/2017 - 14/04/2017

Jan Bauer (*1972) studied under Astrid Klein at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig. His numbered illustrations show portraits of sleeping individuals. The figures drawn with charcoal and pastel, lost in the distant reverie of sleep, contrast with the brightly illuminated materiality of the light boxes. Together with the video work “Sleepers” by the Frankfurt artists Thomas Lüer (*1977), this exhibition is dedicated to the parasympathetic nervous system – that part of the autonomic nervous system that is active in sleep and regarded as a source of creative energy.
